Top 5 Things You Need To Do After Launching Your New Site
Congratulations on launching your new website!
Now that you’re online, you’ll find yourself facing a whole new set of challenges: how to drive visitors to your site and track your website’s progress.
1. Connect Google Analytics
Once your site is live, the first thing you should do is connect Google Analytics and Google Search Console to your site to track your website’s metrics.Â
Google Analytics is a free analytics tool offered by Google to help you analyze your website traffic.Â
Given that your website is the central hub of your digital presence, your site’s analytics will show you the best view of the effectiveness of your search ranking, campaigns, and promotions. Google Analytics is a free tool that will help you track your digital marketing effectiveness.
When you connect the Google Analytics tracking code into the code of your website, the code records various user activities and attributes such as age, gender, and interests. This information gives you a holistic view of your website performance.Â

2. Connect Google Search Console
Search Console is a free tool provided by Google to help website owners and webmasters monitor the health of their website in the index. Google Search Console will help you measure your site’s traffic, see keyword performance, fix issues, and receive messages from Google about updates. It provides insight on how a website is doing in organic search and unlike Google Analytics, Search Console provides info on traffic that comes from “organic” or non-paid web search.
This is extremely valuable because if you can understand how Google sees your website, you can take specific steps to improve your ranking.
3. Google Business Listing
First things first, what’s a business listing? A business listing is a free listing that appears on Google Search and Google Maps when potential customers search for your business name or service you offer.
A Google My Business listing is not unlike online business directories such as Yelp except that it’s found directly on Google search and Google Maps results and doesn’t require a visit to a third-party site.
A Google Business Listing also enables you to display the most up-to-date business info such as hours, website, phone number, photos, and business description to your customers.
4. Get Social
If you haven’t already, the best thing you can do to stay connected to current customers and find new leads is to create and post on social media.
These accounts also help your website ranking by providing you with inbound links back to your site from “authoritative” sites such as Facebook and Instagram.

5. Start Promoting Your Website
After launching, it’s critical that you start promoting your site to draw in traffic and put your site in front of people searching for your business or services. You can promote your site with email marketing, Google Adwords, or Facebook ads.
If you don’t currently have an email list, you can start building it utilizing services such as Mailchimp or Constant Contact.
If you DO have an email list you should share your new website with them. This is free traffic to your website from a source you own.
Either way, this is a no-cost way to get some highly relevant traffic to your site. Be sure to include a call to action in the email too. Give them a reason to click and go to your new site.
This could be redeeming a discount or promotion in association with the site launch.
Facebook and Google ads utilize a bidding system to place your ad in front of prospective customers. Regardless of which option you decide to take, once your site is live, you need to start driving traffic.
Bottom LineÂ
After launching, once you start to generate traffic and analyze data, you’ll be able to identify what marketing opportunities are the most effective in promoting your website. For example, you may choose to build an email marketing campaign or invest in your social media presence. Whatever you decide, make sure that it aligns with the needs of your audience and your overall business goals.
