How to add Google Analytics to your Squarespace Website
Google Analytics is one of the best free tools available to website owners and marketers. Not only does it provide you with a treasure trove of useful user insights such as the number of site visitors and page views your site has, it can also reveal more about the demographic that your website is attracting.
Although Squarespace provides you with its own analytics, adding Google Analytics to your Squarespace website is not only easy, it will benefit you far beyond an analytics source.
Don’t underestimate the large role that website analytics will play in your business.
Even though numbers don’t always tell the whole story, analytics can help your business set and track goals for the performance of its website and how to use it as an asset.
Remember, the more you know about your customers– the easier it will be for you to connect, convert, and retain them as one.

Creating a Google Analytics Account
To obtain a Google Analytics account, you’ll first need to own a G Suite or Gmail email account. If you do not have one, please create one before moving forward.
Once you have your G Suite or Gmail account ready, head on over to https://analytics.google.com/ to create your Analytics account.
Step 1: Click on “Create Account” and/or follow initial set up prompts.
Step 2: Create an “Account name”. Scroll down to accept the terms and proceed to the next step. Tip: Name your account something that will distinguish it from other sites you may add. For example, we named our account “Howle Creative Main”.
Step 3: Choose “Web” as the source that you’d like to measure.
Step 4: Fill out “Property setup” with name, website url, industry category, and reporting time zone. Make sure to choose Http:// or Https:// correctly. If you are unsure about wether or not your website has SSL encryption, simply look at your web url on any browser. Once you have completely filled out the form, click on “Create”.
Tip: Because you can manage other “properties” under the same account, i.e. landing pages that you’d like to track differently, make sure to choose a name that will help you distinguish this website.
Step 5: Hooray! Now that you’ve successfully created your Google Analytics account, make sure to keep your Tracking ID handy and copy it.
